There’s a new name in Illinois for hoops fans and college coaches alike to know. This is Goran Davidovic, a 6’4” junior point guard. He transferred into Lake Forest Academy after previously attending Crestwood Prep in Toronto.
There are a few different reasons why Davidovic stated about why he made the decision to transfer from Canada to the Illinois school. “A great environment with amazing facilities, great coaching, great academics, and an opportunity to play and show what I can do,” he said about the move.
The junior has already started to attract the interest from several division one programs. This includes Boston University, Dartmouth, Holy Cross, Northern Illinois, and Purdue Fort Wayne who have all already been in touch with him.
Between his well-rounded skill set, athleticism, and positional size, there is already much for college coaches to like about Davidovic’s game. “Dynamic and aggressive guard,” he first said to describe his own game. “I think that my mix of scoring and passing is what makes my game special. I love to get my teammates involved, and I think that my playmaking is my best trait offensively. I love to compete as well and make sure that whichever guard I’m matched up against, I go right at them and win the matchup. When it is needed to take over, I can score in a variety of ways and I am a true three level scorer. I also like to guard and make life tough for the offensive player I am guarding.” Another standout part of the guards' games is his shotmaking. Whether it is knocking down threes or creating his own shot in the mid-range, Davidovic can shoot the basketball.
Davidovic previously played with Uplay Canada for his grassroots team. Now in Illinois, he has been attending workouts of a couple local shoe team programs and will be deciding soon which program he will suit up for in the spring.
With all the abilities of Davidovic, look for him to make an immediate impact on the Illinois hoops scene and continue to build his list of interested division one programs with all his great translatable tools.
