After featuring Kale Graff, Joseph Arnold, Danny Simon, Nathan Munson, and Blake Basich in part one of this series, we move on to five more players in the region who fill this mold.

Brayden Golabowski - 2027 - G - 24UP

Throughout his grassroots season with 24UP, Golabowski showed his ability to do it all on the court and make plenty of winning plays. In addition to his scoring, the senior also rebounds extremely well for a guard, is a tough and versatile defender, and can also run the point. Golabowski has a good combination of physical tools for a guard standing at 6’4” with a strong build in addition to his toughness but also has a well-rounded skill set.

Cole Jansons - 2028 - F/C - Illinois Wolves

As well as being one of the higher upsides recruits in Illinois’ 2028 class, he is also one of the top shot blockers. Jansons is a natural shot blocker not just for his elite size at 6’11” but also his mobility at his size. He moves extremely well all around the paint with good instincts and some bounce to be a true rim protector. The junior post picked up his first pair of division one offers this summer and should be a popular target this winter with Oswego.

Dean Lewis - 2027 - SG - Legacy Select

While Lewis can definitely score the basketball, his impact goes much further. This includes his defensive play, creating for others, and rebounding. As a big and athletic guard at 6’5” that plays with defensive intensity, Lewis is a player who can match up with both guards and forwards well. He also uses these tools to rebound extremely well. Though Lewis also has proven a good skill set being able to handle the ball and create for others.

Chris Retic - 2027 - SF - Jay Academy

As he averaged 21.2 points last season at Golda Meir, there is no question if Retic can score the basketball but he can do so much more. Part of this is his shot blocking ability. In his high scoring junior season, he also led all of Wisconsin in blocks per game with 5.2. This shot blocking was also seen throughout the grassroots season as one of the best on the NY2LA Association. As an explosive 6’7” wing forward with great length and quick second jump, who also covers so much ground playing with a ton of energy defensively,, Retic has plenty of tools to be a great shot blocker.

Perry Tchiegne - 2027 - G - Illinois Wolves

Tchiegne has proven to be one of the top defenders in all of Illinois over the past year. He has great positional size at 6’5” paired along his strength, athleticism, and motor to be a high level defender just being able to get all over opposing ballhandlers. Whether it be point guards or wings, the senior can be a lock down on-ball defender. As well, Tchiegne has continued to improve his game including being able to run the point to be a truly well-rounded and do it all type of player.
