While the state of Wisconsin basketball has seen some significant transfers leaving the state, there have also been some transfers coming in. The main one of these being Tyler Treder, a 6’8” power forward.
Making the move from California, Treder is now attending Wisconsin Lutheran High School. Treder made the switch to Wisconsin due to a family move. The family is no stranger to Wisconsin Lutheran as his grandfather attended the school, graduating in 1966.
As just a sophomore last season, Treder was one of the leading scorers in the entire nation. He averaged a staggering 42.3 points per game for California Lutheran High School. Treder has a unique blend of size and skill set. As well as his size standing at 6’8”, the forward also has a well-rounded offensive game. Not only has he proven to be a knock down outside shooter but can also use his size to score inside as well as handle the ball to be a three level scorer. “I’m a stretch four,” is how Treder described his own game. He also talked about taking pride in his defensive play and willing to defend one through five.
With all his tools, Treder has gotten an early start with his recruitment. This includes interest from plenty of division one programs as he starts his junior year. Included in this are Cal Baptist, Lehigh, Navy, Pepperdine, Seattle, South Dakota, UC Irvine, UC San Diego, among others. With Treder now in Wisconsin, look for plenty of Midwest division one programs to join this list over the coming months.
Treder is joining a Wisconsin Lutheran team that has won three straight state championships. He will join Duke commit Kager Knueppel, Riley Walz, Kinston Knueppel, and others in what should be one of the most talented teams in the state once again.
