There was some great talent at both the 2027 and 2028 levels with recruits for all levels of colleges. While there were plenty of standouts, these four were just playing at another level throughout the camp to earn their MVP honors. Plenty more coverage to follow from the Junior/Senior Showcase as well as the other pair of camps from the weekend.
Marion Boyland - 2027 - SF - Sheboygan North - Power 5
Boyland is a physical and energetic 6’5” wing forward that was one of the most impactful players of the showcase to earn his MVP honors. His great impact included his efficient and versatile scoring, being one of the top rebounders, tough on ball defense, and high energy plays. In each of his games he scored it effectively as a strong, downhill driver playing right through defenders using his strong frame. Boyland also was effective scoring it hitting some threes and getting out in transition and finishing at a high rate for several and ones.
Jayce Cook - 2027 - G - New Berlin West - 24UP
It is not a stretch to say that Cook was the top shooter and one of the top scorers of the entire showcase. In his first game alone, the senior guard drilled a staggering seven threes. His hot shooting continued throughout the rest of the event as he kept hitting threes at a high percentage. Not only does he have a pure jumper from the outside but also has great range on his jumper. He is a smart guard who moves extremely well without the ball hunting his shots but can also handle the ball too. This hot shooting of Cook has been a constant over the past few years as one of the top shooters in Wisconsin. In the past several weeks, the senior guard has been offered by UW-Parkside and Milwaukee.
Corvalis Stewart Jr. - 2028 - G - Madison West - Wisconsin Academy
Over the past year Stewart has continued to improve his game which was shown throughout this camp and resulted in him earning these MVP honors. What was most evident in his improvement was the 6’2” guard was consistently knocking down his jumpers. He was shooting the ball confidently including even just pulling up from the outside to knock down the three when he was given some room. Paired along with his great ability to get to the basket slicing through the defense, Stewart was one of the best scorers of the entire camp which included him scoring 25 points in a single game. Much more than just a scorer, Stewart is a well-rounded combo guard who also distributed it well on the attack and plays with good energy defending the ball.
Ethan Vahl - 2028 - PG - Oswego - Young & Reckless
The dominant play of Vahl started right from the opening tip of the showcase. On the first possession of his first game he hit a mid-range pullup followed by a three on the next play and kept on his high level shot making and playmaking from there. Vahl is a player who can really heat up from the outside and has a good ability to create his own shot. Not only was he one of the the top shooters and scorers of the event but also greatly impressed with his distributing abilities. The 6’3” guard showed a great ability to break down defenders and then with his vision plus make pinpoint passes through traffic, created very well for his teammates. The co-MVP from the 2028 level currently holds several division one offers.
