Sophomore season is when you see plenty of players have breakout seasons after having a year of high school experience. All five of these players have already proven themselves at either the grassroots and or high school level and have their best hoops ahead of them.
Deshawn Clay Jr. - 2029 - G - Meanstreets
Clay has proven to be one of the most skilled guards in Indiana’s 2029 class, This is highlighted by his ability on both ends of the floor as a two-way standout guard. He has some size in the backcourt at 6’3” along with a great shooting ability but can also be a shut down on ball defender.
Andrew Dillin - 2029 - G - Wisconsin Academy
Over the past year, Dillin has already accomplished plenty. This included last season for Mauston being one of the most productive freshmen in all of Wisconsin while averaging 13.5 points, 4 rebounds, and 2.1 assists per game. This high level of play continued into his standout season with Wisconsin Academy which included being named a top 15U performer at the NY2LA Next Level Invitational. Dillin already has a good skill set featuring his passing ability on the attack along with his shooting.
Evan Lemons - 2029 - SG - Illinois Wolves
As he just starts his sophomore year, there is already so much to like from the game of Lemons. This includes his great size in the backcourt at 6’5” with good length in addition to a well-rounded game. This includes his athleticism, outside shooting, ability to make plays off the dribble, versatile scoring, and he can defend multiple positions. With all of this, Lemons should be in for a big year with St. Laurence.
Bennett Risler - 2029 - SG - Wisconsin Playmakers
Risler has proven to be one of the most skilled players in Wisconsin’s 2029 class. As a freshman, he averaged 11.5 points, 4.2 rebounds, 1.5 assists, and 1.2 steals per game helping Regis to the state semifinals. As well as a high skill level featured by his three point shooting as well as his basketball IQ, Risler also has good positional size as a 6’3” guard. For his sophomore season, Risler will be making the move to Eau Claire Memorial High School.
Nolan Schott - 2029 - G - Foundation South
Already in his freshman season, Schott made a significant impact. This included averaging 6.3 points and 1.2 assists for Evansville. His standout play continued into the grassroots season with Foundation South. This included being one of the top guards at multiple NY2LA tournaments during the season at the 15U level. Schott is a skilled guard with a well-rounded game who plays with good energy. He is a smart guard who can run the point but also shoots it well from the mid-range and three.
