Over the past year, Liam Laidig has continued to emerge in Illinois’ 2028 class. This started in his sophomore season for Woodstock High School and continued into the spring and summer while playing with Kessel Heat.

In his breakout sophomore season, Laidig earned himself all-conference honors in addition to honorable mention all-area. He did this while averaging 16 points and 10 rebounds per game. The game of the 6’5” junior only continued to progress throughout the grassroots season as one of the top wing forwards at the 16U level of the NY2LA Association. This included him being named a top performer at both the NY2LA Grassroots Showcase and NY2LA Sports Invitational tournaments during the season. “Our season was successful, we grew as a team in many ways,” he said about his season with Kessel Heat.

Over the course of the past year, Laidig continued to prove to be a highly impactful player on both ends of the floor. He has a great blend of tools with his energy, athleticism, and toughness. This is to go along with a versatile and continuously growing skill set as he can play both inside as well on the perimeter. As his game continues to develop, he is looking to “gain more confidence around the perimeter.”

In his upcoming junior season, Laidig will have the opportunity to emerge as one of the area's top wing forwards and get himself on college coaches' radars with his blend of abilities. “To not only grow as a player but as a teammate and be able to be at my best each game,” he said about his goals for the upcoming junior season with Woodstock.
