During the weekend, not only did Emporia State land one commitment, but landed a pair of them for their 2027 recruiting class. These came from Nedas and Nojus Venckus, a duo of 6’3” two guards of Breakaway Basketball and Lockport Township High School (IL). 

Both Nedas and Nojus announced their commitment to the division two program on Sunday. Each of them had received their offer from Emporia State back at the end of August. 

There were a variety of factors that played a role in the commitment to Emporia State. When asked why he selected Emporia State, Nedas said “The main things I loved about Emporia State was the great environment and community it has, the awesome coaching staff and players, and the historic White Auditorium.”

The commitment comes just after Nedas and Nojus had just taken their visit to the Kansas school earlier this month on the 12th-14th. “We had an amazing time,” Nedas said about the visit to Emporia State. “I got to spend a lot of time talking with the players and coaches, and that really gave me a great feel for what Emporia State is all about. It made me even more excited about the opportunity to be a part of it.”

Both Nedas and Nojus were a pair of the fastest rising guards in Illinois’ 2027 class during the past several months. They are a pair of athletic guards with an advanced offensive skill set. In their junior seasons, they helped Lockport win a regional title while winning 27 games. During the season, Nedas earned third team 4A all-state honors from the IBCA while Nojus got special mention.
