There are plenty of players that could potentially have breakout seasons as the 2028 class enter their junior season. Here are five to track in the upcoming high school season. 

Calvin Barber - 2028 - G - Reach Legends

Just over the last several months Barber has shown great growth in his game that he is primed for a breakout junior season with Warren Cousino High School (MI). During the summer, he was one of the most impactful guards on the 16U level of the NY2LA Association. This was with the guards ability to really do a bit of everything with his energetic play and well-rounded game. Whether it was playing tough and aggressive on ball defense, strong drives all the way to the rim, creating for others, knocking down shots, or making high energy plays, Barber is a winning type of play. 

Peter Chojniak - 2028 - C - Northridge Prep

The post has flown a bit under the radar but could just be time for Chojniak to emerge in his upcoming junior season. He stands out of course with his great size standing at 6’11” with a solid build but there is more to him than just that. He is a true old school big man that has shown a growing interior game on both sides of the ball. In addition to being a true rim protector and can rebound at a high level, he is also a back to the basket scoring threat. He uses his size well plus good footwork and finishes well over defenders plus is a skilled passer out of the post. He’s a high upside big man to know. 

Semij Grandberry - 2028 - PG - Team Hali

Granberry has a solid sophomore season while averaging 5.7 points and 3.5 assists for Bradley Tech. Though with guard Jakari Smith and his 24.6 points per game off to Arkansas Little Rock, look for Grandberry to have plenty more opportunity in his junior season. While Grandberry has shown to be a skilled scorer as a driver, though he really excels with his point guard play and creating for others. The junior has a very good combination of court vision along with passing skills. 

Emmett Van Dellen - 2028 - SG - Lockdown

After being very productive last season as just a sophomore and continuing that into the grassroots season, it’s time for Van Dellen to become a popular name in Illinois’ 2028 class. His great scoring ability was showcased throughout his sophomore season for Chicago Christian. He is a lengthy 6’3” wing guard who has proven to be a very good outside shooter in addition to some good playmaking ability off the dribble. 

Cam Paulson - 2028 - PG - MN Magic

Paulson has been a big stock booster over the past several months. This has greatly shown with his ability to run the point and be a true floor general. He is a high IQ guard that is a skilled distributor but can also play off the ball and score it well himself too with a well-rounded scoring ability. His scoring ability has shown development with his ability to shoot it off the dribble.
