On Friday, Ohio State and head coach Jake Diebler were able to land one of the top point guards in the nation's 2027 class. This came from Jaxson Davis, a 6’1” senior of Meanstreets and Monarch Academy (KC). The commitment comes after Davis recently took his official visit to Columbus.

Throughout his high school career, Davis has been amongst the top ranked players in the nations’ 2027 class. He is currently ranked as high as 39th by 247 Sports as well to 44th by ESPN and 46th by Rivals. Prior to transferring to Monarchs Academy just this past summer, Davis starred for Warren Township High School (IL) over the past three seasons. This included being Mr. Basketball in Illinois in each of the past two years as both a junior and sophomore. Even before reaching the high school level, the talent of Davis was clear as he played up at the 17U level as an eight grader playing with the Illinois Central Elite.

Over the past several years, Davis had continued to be an extremely popular recruit. Even before reaching high school, he had already received his first scholarship offer. He selected Ohio State over his other finalists of Creighton, Iowa, Marquette, Michigan State, and Minnesota. He had also been offered by DePaul, Georgia, Illinois, Kentucky, Michigan, Missouri, Notre Dame, Purdue, among others.

This commitment marks a major week for the Buckeyes program. Not only did they land Davis but also landed a highly touted forward just the day before. This previous commitment came from Deng Ngor. Ngor is a 6’8” forward who is ranked amongst the top twenty five players in the nations 2027 class. He selected Ohio State over his other finalists of Duke, Florida, and Washington. The duo of Davis and Ngor give the Buckeyes currently one of the top 2027 recruiting classes currently in the entire nation.
