While we are in the basketball offseason, the past few days could be monumental for the future of Eastern Michigan basketball. In less than a week, Eastern Michigan was able to land a trio of commitments for their 2027 recruiting class. These came from Elijah King, Brayden Williams, and Brodrick Wyatt. 

King, a 6’3” point guard of South Bend Saint Joseph High School and the Indiana Elite program announced his commitment on Saturday. The commitment comes very recently following receiving his offer from the program as he got the offer just near the end of August. King picked Eastern Michigan over his other offers coming from Central Michigan, Evansville, Western Michigan, and IU-Indy. As well as thanking God and his family in his commitment post, King stated “To every coach I’ve ever played for, thank you for allowing me to wear your jersey, believing in me, and giving me the opportunity to do what I love. Every experience has helped shape the person and player I am today…With that being said, I’m blessed and excited to announce that I have committed to Eastern Michigan University.” 

In Williams, Eastern Michigan is landing one of its top prospects in recent history. The 6’3” guard of Faith Family Academy (TX) and the YGC program is ranked as high as a four star prospect by ESPN as well to being their twelfth ranked 2027 recruit in the state of Texas. The commitment comes just following the skilled scorers official visit to the Ypsilanti campus. He had also been offered by Air Force, Nicholls State, San Jose State, Texas A&M Corpus Christi, Texas Rio Grande Valley, and Vermont. 

The third of the commitments came from Brodrick Wyatt, another 6’3” guard out of Texas. Wyatt attends Second Baptist School and played with the COOZ Elite. Eastern Michigan was able to beat out a lengthy list of programs as he had double digit division one offers including offers coming from American and Mountain West program schools. As part of his offer list were Georgia State, Jackson State, Louisiana Tech, Texas Southern, UT Arlington, UTEP, and Wichita State. 

This top tier recruiting class comes as Billy Donlon is entering his first season being named head coach back in the spring. The trio of Elijah King, Brayden Williams, and Brodrick Wyatt should give Eastern Michigan one of the top 2027 high school classes in the MAC as they look to improve from their 10-21 record last season.
