Over the past couple of years, Graysen Becker drew plenty of suitors in his recruitment. Recently, the 6’2” senior combo guard of the Wisconsin Playmakers and Altoona High School put an end to his recruitment making his college commitment. Out of his list in the double figures, Becker made his commitment to Angelo State. 

During his recruitment, Becker received offers from both division one and two programs. This included offers from Augustana University, Belmont Abbey College, Cal State Bakersfield, Flagler, Hillsdale, Jacksonville University, Michigan Tech, St. Cloud State, and University of Mary. 

Angelo State was one of Becker’s more recent offers just doing so during the summer at the start of July. The commitment comes after he then took his visit to the Texas school back in early August. “It was amazing,” Becker first said about his visit. “The facilities and staff were remarkable. I got to tour the aviation facility which is unbelievable. And they did all the small things right as well. Make custom graphics of me, got me a full photo shoot, and everything felt personal like they took it very seriously to make it known how much they want me to come to their program. That is ultimately why I chose them.”

There were factors both on and off the court that were the deciding factors in Becker choosing Angelo State over his lengthy list of offers. “I love the atmosphere and overall vibe of the staff and people that are involved in Angelo State. I got to meet with the president at Angelo and he is all about winning. Winning is a common theme around campus while you’re there. He made sure I understood that anything our program needs to succeed, he will find a way to make that available for us.  As well as that they happen to have Commercial Aviation as a degree there.”

Becker sees himself being able to help Angelo State in multiple ways on the floor on both sides of the ball. When speaking about his future playing for the Rams, he said “Overall they didn’t kill it from the three point line last year, I believe that’s why they were so interested in me to begin with. So I know I can come in and impact how they shoot the ball. Another thing is defensive tenacity. It's one of my favorite things in basketball to do. I love making whoever I guard have the worst game of their season. So If I can bring that defensive mindset to college I believe it will help me fight for minutes my freshman year.”
