It has been a monumental summer in the basketball career of Brody Champagne. As well to seeing great growth in his game, the 6’6” wing guard of Clarkston High School (MI) and The Family has also seen his recruitment get a jolt start.

While Champagne is just entering his sophomore year of high school, that has not stopped him from receiving a pair of division two offers this summer. This started with Lake Superior State offering him back in June. Then in August, Saginaw Valley State also extended an offer to him. “It felt great,” the sophomore said about receiving his first pair of scholarship offers. “It’s something I’ve been working towards for a long time.”

It is still early in the recruitment of Champagne, there are a few different aspects he likes about each of the school that have already offered him. “Lake State was my first offer so that’s always special. They have a veteran coach that has had a lot of success in that league. Saginaw Valley State was really cool because my cousin plays there. The facilities are nice. They have a young exciting coach that really relates to his players,” Champagne said.

As well to shooting up to 6’6”, the game of Champagne has also continued to greatly grow. This included his play this summer on the EYBL with The Family where he averaged 9.1 points, 6.7 rebounds, and 1.7 assists per game. “I am probably best known as a shooter,” he said when talking about his own game. “But I grew up playing the one, so I have the ability to handle ball pressure and make plays for my teammates. I also take a lot of pride in my defense and rebounding. Being a big guard helps with that.”
