The first part of this series featured Alex Cohan, Will Still, Noah Hester, Josiah Hall, and Braylon DeCleene. Here are five more in varying levels of their playing career who are all poised to take their game to the next level.

Logan Brown – 2028 – G/F – Young & Reckless

Brown has been one of the bigger stock risers in Illinois’ 2028 class over the past few months and look for a big upcoming junior season with St. Laurence. There is much to like from his game right now and translatable tools for the next level. As well to being 6’5”, he is an athletic wing who can really shoot the ball from three but also has a versatile, well-rounded game. He picked up an early offer last year from UIC and should be a popular name with colleges moving forward.

Blake Choice – 2028 – G – Elevate

With DePaul Prep losing plenty from their backcourt last year that made it to the 4A state semifinals, Choice will have plenty of opportunity in his upcoming junior season. This was already seen in June with Choice excelling in his expanded role. He is a strong 6’3” that has proven to be a shutdown on ball defender while also growing his offensive skills including being able to create off the dribble getting to the rim and getting to his spots in the mid-range.

Detiz Johnson – 2028 – PG – Courts Vision Elite

Johnson had multiple standout tournaments this past season including being named a top standout at the NY2LA Spring Extravaganza tournament during the May live period. Throughout the grassroots season, the guard showed a good ability to create for himself offensively while also being able to run the point and create for others. He excels playing on the attack with his quickness and also uses that speed on the defensive side pressuring the ball.

Eddy Johnson – 2028 – PF – Kessel Heat

Between his sophomore season at Grayslake North and then into his grassroots season with Kessel Heat, Johnson is power forward that has flashed plenty of upside. This included being one of the top 2028 big men last month at the NY2LA Summer Jam tournament. He already has good size at 6’7” and proven is ability to be an impactful player on both ends. This included his interior play with his back to the basket scoring and shot blocking but also developing his jumper.

Derek Williams – 2028 – SF – Team Hali

Williams had a breakout sophomore season in which he averaged 16.3 points, 9.1 rebounds, 2.3 assists, and 1.1 steals per game and expect even bigger things in his junior season. Over the past few months is game is just continued to grow. Not only is he 6’5” with a strong build but is also an athletic wing forward who has seen his offensive game continue to build. He has consistently proven to be an overpowering force using his physicality but is developing into a more consistent shooter as well.
