Over the past few months, Codey Bush has started to emerge as one of the top 2029 guards in the entire Midwest. This has led to the recruitment of Summit Academy (MI) and Phenom United guard starting to take off.

While playing with Phenom United this past grassroots season, Bush was one of the top 2029 guards on the 3SSB circuit. This included averaging 17.4 points, 2.4 rebounds, 2.8 assists, and 2.5 steals per game on the 3SSB. He was ranked third at the 15U level of the 3SSB for steals per game.

While in the current recruitment landscape, many players are seeing their recruitment timeline continue to be pushed back. Though this has not been the case for Bush. While he is just entering his sophomore season, the 6’3” guard has already built an impressive list of offers. While he entered the summer with zero offers, he finished it with five. This includes a trio of high major ones just this month, including one from a blue blood program. Most recently just a few days ago, he was offered by Virginia Tech. A couple of weeks before that, he was offered by Kansas. Earlier in the month, Mississippi State offered. This is in addition to both Detroit Mercy and Kent State offering Bush back in June.

While it is still very early in Bush’s recruitment process, there are already some aspects he likes when asked about the last two schools who have offered him. “Kansas has a great fan base. The guard play is also fantastic, and I like the system they run,” Bush said about the Jayhawks. When asked about the school who most recently offered him, he said “Virginia Tech is the same really they work ethic is insane and there’s a lot good players that went there and the school part is cool and they have good fan base also.”
