With his play over the past year, Tyson Busch has emerged as one of the top available point guards in Wisconsin’s 2027 class. This started during his junior season at Oak Creek and continued into the grassroots season while playing with the Racine Truth.

In his junior season at Oak Creek, Busch earned first team all-conference honors. As well to averaging 20.6 points per game, he also earned all-defensive team in the Classic 8 conference. This was in addition to averaging 4.7 rebounds, 3.5 assists and 1.5 steals per game. His high level of play continued into the grassroots season where he was one of the top guards on the NY2LA Association. This included being named a top standout at both the NY2LA Sports Invitational and Summer Jam tournaments. When asked about his spring and summer, Busch said “my season with Racine Truth went well. My goal this summer was to establish myself as a true point guard and I feel like I’ve accomplished that goal. I was the team leading scorer and assists leader for the second year in a row.”

With his consistent standout player over the past year, this has given a jolt to Busch’s recruitment. As part of this, he is being recruiting by a wide range of programs from division one to division three schools. Included as part of this, he received his first scholarship offer earlier this year. This came from Barry University, a division two program in Florida. When asked about what he likes about Barry University, Busch said “I seem to connect very well with head coach (Justin) Furr.” Regarding his visit, he said “The campus was very nice and there was a lot of athletes seen through the school. I liked that the team size was smaller, and they seem to get along very well with each other. The warm weather in Miami is intriguing.”

Some of the other programs Busch has been talking to include Grand Valley State, Green Bay, UW-Parkside, and UW-Whitewater. As well to taking a visit to Barry, the senior has also visited Green Bay twice as well as one to Grand Valley State.
