All five of these players are on college coaches’ radars with all their translatable tools but look for their recruitment to greatly build sooner than later.

Nasir Avery – 2027 – PG – Team Herro

After averaging 8.6 points, 4.3 rebounds, and 2.1 assists in his junior season with Brookfield Central, the game of Avery took a big jump in the grassroots season. With what he showed throughout the spring and summer, the senior is a player college coaches need to be more familiar with. His standout season including being a top performer at the Grassroots Invitational leading Team Herro to a 4-0 record with games of 30 and 26 points with his outside shot making and ability to get to the rim. Much more than just a scorer, Avery also has a good ability to run the point and create for others as well to his ability to defend the ball.

KJ Cross – 2027 – G/F – Wisconsin Dynasty

There were few players as good as Cross this season on the NY2LA Association. He was named a top standout at several tournament over the course of the spring and summer. This included being one of the top scorers with plenty of 25 plus point games. As well to being 6’5”, Cross is a highly aggressive and powerful wing who excels playing on the attack. He has continued to round out his game with his ability to be a primary ball handler and his high energy defensive play.

Trace Damrow – 2027 – SG – Wisconsin Legends

Damrow has seen his recruitment build during his breakout grassroots season with the Wisconsin Legends and that should only continue in the coming months. This includes plenty of interest from division two, three, and NAIA programs. Along with having great positional size as a 6’5” wing guard, Damrow has a highly skilled and versatile offensive game highlighted by hit outside shooting.

Cooper Malaski – 2027 – F/C – Pro Skills Indy

While Malaski did pick up his first offer from DePauw last month, he should continue to see greater offers from division three programs. The post has good size standing at 6’8” plus a solid frame to be a highly effective interior player but has continued to show a growing offensive game as well. This included developing into a consistent spot up three-point shooter as well the ability to put the ball on the floor. With the growth of his game over recent months, it is only a matter of time before the recruitment follows.

Perry Tchiegne – 2027 – G – Illinois Wolves

Tchiegne picked up an offer from Northern Michigan and should continue to attract more division two interest and offers. He is one of the top two-way guards in all of Illinois. He is an athletic and strong 6’4” with a well-rounded game. Over the past couple of years, he has proven to be a shutdown perimeter defender and shown great growth offensively. This includes a growing ability to run the point and scoring on the attack. There are few in Illinois’ 2027 class who can do as much as him.
