Florida Gulf Coast University came into Indiana to land one of the state’s top recruits in the 2027 class. This came from Cooper Zachary, a 5’11” point guard of Fishers High School and the Midwest Basketball Club.

Zachary announced his collegiate decision on Sunday with the caption “100% Committed.” The commitment comes after he was offered by Florida Gulf Coast back in May of this year following the live period.

Florida Gulf Coast landed Zachary over a very lengthy list of other division one offers. Air Force, Ball State, Bradley, Cal Baptist, Eastern Illinois, Evansville, Nevada, Penn, Toledo, and Western Michigan were among some of the other schools to had previously offered him. The point guard has been a popular target of schools throughout his high school career receiving his first division one offer two and a half years ago during his freshman season.

Florida Gulf Coast is landing one of the top shooters in the 2027 class. In his junior season, he set the school record for made threes in a game with ten. During his junior high school season he averaged 15 points, 5.3 assists, and 2.9 assists for Fishers to earn conference athlete of the year and Indiana Junior all-star honors. His high level of play continued into the grassroots season with Midwest Basketball Club. On the 3SSB he averaged 15.4 points, 2.2 rebounds, 3.9 assists, and 1.5 steals per game. He was second on the 17U level of the 3SSB with made threes per game while averaging 3.5. This is all in addition to winning a state championship in his freshman season at Fishers.

The Florida school has continued to recruit the Midwest region well over recent years. The current roster includes Chase Konieczny of Indiana and Evan Barlow of Illinois.
