2026 has been a major year in the basketball career of Miles Schmidgall. This included the growth of both his recruitment and game and most recently his commitment for the 6’8” power forward of Fall Creek High School and the Wisconsin Playmakers. Early on in the year he received his first division two offer and now the senior recently announced his commitment to Upper Iowa University and head coach Casey Kasperbauer.

During his junior high school season, Schmidgall received all-state honors from the WBCA. This was after averaging 15.3 points, 12 rebounds, 2.9 assists, 1.7 steals, and 3 blocks per game for Fall Creek during the season.

The recruitment of Schmidgall to the division two school quickly came along over the past couple of months. It was just over a month ago back in July when he picked up his offer from Upper Iowa. His visit to the Fayette, Iowa campus took place just earlier this month on the 6th. “It was a great experience,” he said about the visit. The power forward picked Upper Iowa over a few other division two offers. These came from Hillsdale College, McKendree, and University of Mary.

There were several factors on the basketball programs that landed Schmidgall to Upper Iowa over his other offers. “I like their culture, winning mentality, and great facilities.” When asked about how he sees his game fitting it for them, he stated “I think I fit into their fast and physical style of play very well. Coach Kasperbauer and the staff believe in their players abilities and allow them to play into their strengths.” He will be joining one of the stronger division two programs in the region as they have one twenty plus games in two of the past three seasons including advancing to the second round of the NCAA tournament in the 2023-24 season.
