Over the past few years there have been plenty of major stock boosters in Illinois’ 2027 class. One of the biggest has been Blair Fagbemi, a point guard of Benet Academy and Full Package.
The year started with Fagbemi helping Benet Academy advance all the way to the championship game of the Illinois 4A state tournament. Then throughout the grassroots season, his game took major strides while playing with Full Package. “My season with Full Package was great. We played good competition and practices set me up to become a better player. Our team played together which allowed us to win tough games,” Fagbemi said about his grassroots season.
While Fagbemi has been a been a very skilled point guard for some time, the rest of his game has shown great development over the last several months in addition to becoming stronger. This has especially been the case with his scoring ability playing more confident with the ball looking to create for himself. The senior has been stronger with the ball getting to the rim as well as becoming a more consistent three-point shooter. His confident scoring ability was evident back at the NY2LA Spring Extravaganza where he took the ball all the way to the rim for a game winning basket in the final seconds going right through multiple defenders.
With the growth of his game, Fagbemi has continue to build his college interest. This has included schools from both division two and three level programs. Amongst the one showing the most interest are Hillsdale College, Lawrence University, and UW-La Crosse. In his search for his next school, Fagbemi is looking for “good academics, a good pre-med program, and a basketball team that I fit into. Location or size does not concern me.”
After coming up just short of a state championship in his junior season, Fagbemi is looking for Benet to make the next step in his senior season. “I hope that we win the state championship,” he said. The point guard is also looking to “get into a good college that will set me up for a great future.”
