Bay College picked up a late commitment recently for its 2026 recruiting class. This came from Jamal Pickering, a 6’5” wing of Gxfted Elite program and Southeast Wisconsin Christian Homeschool.

“I like Bay College because it feels like home and they have a good program and I feel that I can have a great season there,” Pickering stated about why he selected Bay College. Bay College is a junior college located in Michigan. This past season they had a lofty 23-7 record.

Pickering was also being recruited by schools from all levels including NAIA to junior college to prep schools to division one. Amongst these were American University, Bryant & Stratton, Fisher College, Triton, Wilbur Wright, among others.

Bay College came along late in the recruitment process of Pickering. The wing was told by the coaching staff that he is the “perfect fit for the program.” Pickering also said that he liked everything that head coach Mike Cretens had to say to him during the quick recruiting timeline. When asked about his visit to the Escanaba, Michigan campus, Pickering said “Everything was nice, and it is a very good environment.”

Bay College is landing one of the more under the radar players from Wisconsin’s 2026 class. During the grassroots season, he was one of the more impactful players on the NY2LA Association. This included helping Gxfted Elite to undefeated records at the Grassroots Showcase, Spring Extravaganza, and NY2LA Sports Invitational tournaments. Bay College is getting an explosive two-way slashing wing who plays with great aggressiveness and can defend multiple positions effectively.
