It has been a busy summer for Jayce Cook both on and off the court. In addition to shining on the court with 24UP, the rising senior has taken several college visits. This summer the 6’2” guard of New Berlin West (WI) has taken visits to both division one and two schools. These visits were to Hillsdale College, DePaul, and UW-Parkside.

“My visit to Hillsdale was really good,” Cook said about the first of these visits which took place back in June. “I liked the family atmosphere, the academics, and the way the coaches invest in their players. It was a great opportunity to learn more about the program and what they have to offer.”

For his visit to DePaul, Cook called it a great experience checking out the Big East school. “It was exciting to see a high-level Division I program, meet the coaching staff, and learn more about what they expect from their players. I was able to watch their first practice of the summer which was unique.”

More recently, Cook took a visit to UW-Parkside this week. “My visit to Parkside was great. I really enjoyed getting to know Coach Blackbourn and the staff, learning more about the program, and seeing the campus and facilities. It was a great opportunity to see how I could fit into what they’re building.” When asked if there is anything he likes about them, the guard mentioned their culture, player development, and “relationships the coaches build with their players.”

In addition to these three programs, Cook has been in touch with several other division one and two programs. These include Milwaukee, Navy, North Dakota State, Purdue Northwest, and South Dakota Mines.

Throughout his high school career, Cook has proven to be one of the more skilled guards in Wisconsin’s 2027 class. The guard is a high-level shooter with a growing all-around game who also has a high basketball IQ and knows how to play. In his junior season at New Berlin West, he averaged 18.8 points, 3.1 rebounds, and 1.7 assists while earning honorable mention all-state honors from the WBCA.
