Following the grassroots season and the June high school season, we’re starting to highlight some of the many players from across the Midwest who are under recruited and need to be on more college coaches’ radars. All the below players have greatly risen their games over the past few months.

Max Michalak – 2027 – PF – Team Herro

With what he showed this summer, Michalak is one to be on college coaches’ radars. He has a good blend of abilities with some size at 6’6” in addition to a very well-rounded game. This includes on the defensive side playing tough inside battling versus size but also moving well on the perimeter at his size. Offensively, Michalak uses his frame effectively around the paint scoring inside. He has also consistently shown his ability to stretch the floor hitting threes at a high percentage and can handle the ball in addition to being a skilled passing forward.  

Nate Munson – 2027 – PG – Illinois Flight

Over the past couple of years, Munson has been an incredibly consistent player with all that he can do. This includes his elevated point guard play. Munson has a wide range of point guard tools playing poised with the ball, great court awareness, being a very skilled passer, and a high basketball IQ. This is in addition to becoming a more consistent outside shooter plus being a tough and active on ball defender, and rebounding it very well as a guard.

Jaylyn Rogers – 2027 – PF – Team Hali

Rogers is a high upside forward who has been starting to show some of his great potential. His play inside on both ends of the floor was a big reason why Team Hali won the NY2LA Association championship last month. As well to being 6’7”, he is an extremely lengthy forward with some mobility. Rogers has proven to be a true rim protector with the ability to have that translate to the next level. He moves well around the paint and gets off the floor quickly blocking shots. Rogers has a growing offensive game but already scores it well as a lob threat in addition to being able to stretch the floor.

Jackson Tangley – 2027 – G – Chippewa Valley Select

If Tangley continues to play the way at the NY2LA Summer Jam tournament in July, he is a rising senior that should be on college coaches’ radars. He has a great combination of positional size at 6’3” in the backcourt to go along with his offensive skill set. This included hitting six threes in a game at Summer Jam tournament in his teams run to the gold championship where he scored 26 points hitting 5 threes. In addition to his pure outside jumper as he shot 42.3% from three in his junior season, Tangley also has a well-rounded offensive game. This includes the ability to run the point and be a facilitator having averaged 5.1 assists in that season.

Keyon’Dre Thornton – 2027 – PG – Wisconsin Dynasty

What he may lack in size, the point guard makes up in other areas. Throughout the spring and summer with the Wisconsin Dynasty, he showcased his playmaking ability on both ends of the floor. This includes his ability to create off the dribble, hit game winning jumpers, and with his defensive pressure. He plays with great intensity and energy on the floor, this is highlighted especially with his aggressive on ball defensive play. Thornton has also consistently showed a great ability to create his own shot in the mid-range in addition to his facilitating on the attack with good court vision.
