There have been plenty of up and downs on the hardwood for 2027 Ken White Jr. this year. The point guard River Rouge High School (MI) and the Reach Legends was one of the top players this summer on the NY2LA Association after missing the spring grassroots season.

In his junior high school season White was able to earn himself second team all-state honors with River Rouge. He did this by averaging 23 points, 3 rebounds, and 4 assists per game. While he did have a breakout, all-state season his spring would not go the same way as he missed it due to injury.

White was able to make his return to the court in June. Then fresh off the injury in July, he got off to a big start during the first of the live periods. He was named a top standout at the NY2LA Grassroots Invitational tournament with Reach Legends. He continued this high level of play into the next weekend which included him scoring 27 points in just his first game of the tournament at NY2LA Summer Jam. “My summer with reach was great, coming back from injury was great I missed the game a lot,” White said.

Even with his all-state junior season followed by stellar summer grassroots season, the recruitment has not followed. White said that his recruitment has been limited to this point. With all his talents and limited college interest, that makes the point guard one of the most under recruited players in Michigan’s 2027 class. Over the past couple of years, he has consistently showcased tremendous playmaking abilities with the ball. He plays incredibly quick with the ball along with his shiftiness to be such an elusive point guard. This allows him to have a great ability to create his own shot getting great separation from defenders. More than just a scorer, White has also shown good point guard abilities including being able to get into the paint and be a facilitator. Throughout the July live periods, White shot it well creating his own shot from the outside while also showing the ability to score it on the attack. “I think my game will translate very well to the college level I just have to get stronger.”

If White continues to play the way he was throughout July, it is only a matter of time before his recruitment takes off.
