The 15U level of the NY2LA Summer Jam was one of the most talented groups of the entire tournament. Here are some of the many stars of the group.

Kartier Calvert – 2029 – SF – Team Herro

The standout grassroots season continued here for Calvert. As well to being 6’6”, he is an athletic forward that has a well-rounded offensive game. His scoring ability was on display throughout Team Herro’s run to the championship including leading his team with 19 points in a first round bracket game as well as 24 points in the semifinals win. Throughout the tournament, Calvert proved to be a mismatch with his blend of size and scoring. Calvert continued to display his knockdown shooting in this tournament hitting threes at a high percentage. Though he was also very effective off the dribble playing strong on the attack, scoring out of the mid-post utilizing his size, and finishing strong at the basket.

Timothy Edwards – 2029 – PG – Reach Legends

Edwards was one of the most skilled scorers at the 15U level of the tournament in which helped Reach Legends advance all the way to the semifinals. His high level of scoring including putting up 17 points in a single half. The point guard scored it effectively both from the outside as well as on the attack. Not only does Edwards have good range on his jumper hitting some threes from a few steps beyond the three-point line but also shoots it well off the dribble. He also moves well with the ball finding the gaps in the defense and finished the ball extremely well all around the basket and paint.

Liam Etter – 2029 – G/F – Wisconsin Dynasty

It was another tournament this grassroots season in which Etter showcased his high-level scoring ability. This included scoring 16 points in a single half with a good ability to create for himself. He has a highly versatile offensive skill set with his ability to be a primary ball handler, shoot the three, and be aggressive attacking the basket. In that single half, the 6’3” wing showed his shooting ability hitting a trio of threes at a high percentage and can shoot it off the dribble. He also played strong with the ball going through heavy traffic, being able to play and finish through contact. Etter has been one of the most skilled scorers and consistent players at the 2029 level of the NY2LA Association all season.

Dumont Mason – 2029 – G – Davis Brothers Elite

Mason was a standout throughout the tournament. This included deep into bracket play Sunday where he scored 9 points in the first half of the semifinals to build a significant lead and then scored 17 points in the championship game. Much more than just a scorer, Mason plays well with the ball running the point seeing the floor well and showed a good passing ability. He is a good decision maker with the ball who plays beyond his years knowing how to play. He is a shifty and crafty guard beating defenders off the dribble and is a very strong finisher at the basket in addition to shooting it well spotting up from three.

Drew Schnurman – 2029 – G – Kessel Heat

Schnurman was one of the more versatile and impactful players at the 15U level of the tournament and was a big reason Kessel Heat reached the tournament semifinals. He is a 6’2” combo guard that knows how to play. He hit several threes during the tournament and scored 15 points in a bracket play win but also showed a good ability with the ball running the point. Schnurman handles the ball well and can play with some physicality getting into the paint and finishing it there. He also showed a very good ability to pass it on the move. Schnurman made a real impact in his freshman season for Deerfield High School in their run to the state title game and is a 2029 to track.

Juel Turner – 2029 – F – Courts Vision Elite

Already as a rising sophomore, the 6’4” forward has a very strong build and showed his ability to make a great impact on the floor. Along with his strength, he plays with plenty of physicality and aggressiveness. With these tools, Turner showed the ability to be a real force rebounding on each end as well to defending the paint as a shot blocker. He can also defend out on the perimeter as well playing with good energy. He is also an efficient interior scorer being able to power through defenders scoring it well on put backs and dump offs.
