One more group of standouts from this talented 16U level at Summer Jam with the ones to watch.

Owen Birschbach – 2028 – SF – Mammoth Basketball

Birschbach has been one of the most consistent, impactful, and top 2028 forwards all season on the NY2LA Association and continued that into Summer Jam getting his team into the semifinals. In addition to being 6’5” with a solid frame, he also has a very well-rounded game plus plays with good energy. He is a versatile scorer who in multiple games this tournament who was very effective using his size and physicality to finish it all around the paint. Defensively, he can both defend the ball as well to being a good help defender covering plenty of ground around the paint.

Denham Butler – 2028 – G – D Rice Elite

Butler was a big piece of the championship tournament for D Rice Elite with all that he can do. He is a 6’2” combo guard that can do a bit of everything with his two-way play. This included having a game of 15 points with his consistent outside shooting as well to playing quick with the ball getting to the basket finishing through contact. Though he can also impact a game greatly without scoring. The athletic guard was also one of the better on ball defenders at the 16U level sticking with the ball so well.

Traverse Emery – 2028 – G/F – Wisconsin Legends

Emery had multiple double figures scoring games but did so much more in helping the Legends reach the Association title game. This included the 6’3” wing playing very big inside defensively and on the glass all tournament for his guard heavy team. He consistently battled tough inside playing very active and aggressive up against some forwards with division one offers. He was also active playing in help as a shot blocker. Emery has also continued to grow as a scorer consistently shooting it well spotting it from three as well to being able to score driving to the basket.

Brice Hutchinson – 2028 – G/F – Reach Legends

Hutchinson is a highly versatile wing who was doing it all on both ends helping Reach in a pool play win to go undefeated in pool play. He is a high energy defender who can match up with multiple positions so well as well to being very active as a help defender. Offensively, the wing showed the ability to score it in a variety of ways; spotting up for threes, finishing strong around the paint, and being able to hand the ball getting to the basket.

Mace Miskel – 2028 – PG – Team Herro

Miskel has consistently been such a skilled playmaking point guard which continued throughout this tournament. He has a very quick first step and is so shifty with tight handles breaking down even quality defenders to often get into the paint. While he can get to the basket and finish, he also creates so well in the mid-range hitting mid-range shots and fadeaway jumpers. His playmaking abilities also extend with his point guard play creating for others on the attack in addition to active defensive play both on the ball and in the passing lanes forcing turnovers.
