The stock boosters keep on coming from the NY2LA Summer Jam tournament. Several more standouts who should all be on college coaches’ radars moving forward.

Damir Ellis – 2027 – PG – Team Hali

Ellis had some big games in Team Hali’s Association championship tournament. This was especially the case in the quarterfinals win with his great playmaking on both ends of the court. He is a savvy and vocal point guard who plays with great instincts. Ellis plays with some physicality driving, changes speeds well, and knows where to go with the ball. While often making plays on the attack, the point guard was also hitting threes off the dribble and catch. With his quickness and toughness, Ellis also plays well pressuring the ball.  

Kasen Gregoire – 2027 – SF – Wisconsin Legends

While there are a few talented scorers on this Legends team, Gregoire does a lot of the dirty work to make a big impact helping them go 3-0 in pool play. He stands at 6’4” but plays even bigger with his toughness and motor. Gregoire was able to rebound everything near him with his aggressive play and getting good position. He also makes an impact with his tough interior defensive play as well as an effective screen setter.

Eli Phillips – 2027 – SG – Mercury Elite

In multiple games, Phillips was scoring in double figures including doing this in a single half of a tight bracket play game. He is a 6’2” two guard with a well-rounded offensive game including his outside shooting. When spotting up from three, Phillips displayed a pure jumper hitting them at a high percentage. He also had some strong drives to the basket being able to play through contact to the basket while also playing with good energy on the defensive end.

Connor Sickler – 2027 – F – 24UP

The game of Sickler has continued to build during the grassroots season that should be landing him on college coaches’ radars. He is a 6’7” forward with some athleticism as well to building his offensive game. Not only is he an explosive finisher around the paint but can also stretch the floor as a consistent spot up three-point shooter. Sickler also plays with a big motor hitting the glass on both ends, running the floor, and defending both inside and out.

KD Thornton – 2027 – PG – Wisconsin Dynasty

Throughout this grassroots season, Thornton has continued to display great playmaking ability off the dribble. This has been highlighted by his scoring ability all around the paint and mid-range on the attack. With his quickness, handles, and moves, the point guard maneuvers so effectively through the defense being able to get to his spots. Once there he scores it so well finishing with floaters right over defenders and creating his own shots in the mid-range.

Pete Tschetter – 2027 – PG – Minnesota Heat Tigers

The 6’2” point guard was a huge piece of this team taking home the 17U platinum championship. Tschetter has a very good ability to both score and distribute the ball. This includes being a consistent three-point shooter while also being a strong finisher while attacking the basket. Tschetter also showed a very good passing ability both in the half court and pushing the ball in transition. He also has a good ability to make pin point passes through traffic or full court length passes right on target.

Kyle Yehle – 2027 – G/F – ALL IN

As well to scoring 26 points in his first game of the tournament, Yehle can also do so much more. He is a highly versatile 6’4” wing with such a well-rounded game plus good length. This includes the ability to handle the ball well and run the point, be a tough defender both in the paint blocking shots as well as on the ball, spot up for threes, and rebound everything around him. Yehle has a very nice blend of versatility, energy, and skills.
