One last piece of coverage from the 16U level of the Grassroots Invitational with five more standouts from the tournament.
Dominic Fey – 2028 – G – Indiana Impact Smith
Fey has a well-rounded offensive skill set along with some positional size at 6’3”. With these tools he scored in double figures in each of his four games. This was especially with his shot making as in one of his games he hit a trio of threes as well to showing some shot creating in the mid-range while hitting a fadeaway jumper. Fey moves well without the ball to get good looks from three as well as on back cuts to the basket. He also played with good energy whether it was defensively getting into the passing lanes or on the glass.
Da’Kari Fields – 2028 – PF – D Rice Elite
At 6’6” with his powerful build, Fields showed his ability to be a force inside. This was especially with his interior scoring finishing the ball on a high percentage of his paint touches being able to overpower defenders. Along with his physical tools, he showed good footwork and touch finishing the ball. He was able to score it with some strong back to the basket moves finishing right through defenders for several and one plays during the tournament. He was also an imposing figure on the defensive side showing the ability to shut down the interior as well as rebounding everything near him.
Kingston Hogan – 2028 – PG – Reach Legends
Hogan is a skilled and athletic playmaker who can run the point, defend the ball, and score it himself. He was consistently making a winning impact for his team including scoring 15 points in a dominant win in their final game. While he hit a few threes during the tournament, he excels playing on the attack. He was often beating his man off the dribble with his moves and quickness and finished it well all around the paint. Hogan is also an unselfish point guard who also looked to distribute it out too.
Kyle Nazos – 2028 – PG – Mercury Elite
Nazos has been one of the more skilled and consistent point guards at the 16U level of the NY2LA Association this grassroots season. In my one game seeing him this tournament he got off to a quick start hitting a pair of threes in the first half to score 10 points in just that half. He has consistently proven his outside shooting ability and was hitting them from a few steps beyond the line. His high-level point guard play continued to be evident here highlighted by his smart play reading the floor and knowing where to go with the ball.
Liam Sieggreen – 2028 – SG – Indiana Impact Leighton
Sieggreen was scoring it in all ways to put up 20 points in a tight win. This included some critical plays late with an and one three pointer with just over a minute to take the lead and later a key rebound followed by a pair of free throws in the final thirty seconds. Over this game, the skilled two guard showed the ability to score it from all three levels while being able to create for himself. He has good moves with the ball and shot it well off the dribble from the mid-range and three. As well, he did the bulk of his scoring on the attack where he finished strong through contact for multiple and one finishes at the basket.
