One more article in this series of players to watch in July with the upcoming live periods to get underway tomorrow. Look for these players at the NY2LA Grassroots Invitational this weekend.

Nasir Avery – 2027 – PG – Team Herro National

Avery is an under the radar guard who showed some high-level play in the spring. At both the NY2LA Sports Invitational and Grassroots Showcase, he was one of the top 2027-point guards. This included being names 17U First Team at the Grassroots Showcase with games of 30 and 26 points for a 4-0 record. Avery has a nice combination of point guard play along with his scoring. He can be the true floor general creating so well for others, often getting into the paint and creating with his quickness and vision. Though, Avery has consistently shown his great shot making ability as he can really shoot it from three.

Dominic Frey – 2028 – G – Indiana Impact

It has been a stock rising few months with the development of Frey’s game. Following his first team all-conference sophomore season with Jimtown High School, his game has only continued to grow with the Indiana Impact. He has good size in the backcourt at 6’3” along with a very well-rounded game being able to do so much on the floor. His impactful play includes being able to both score and distribute the ball including being a versatile scorer. This is in addition to being able to defend both guards and wings effectively, rebounds well as a guard, and is a smart playmaker with the ball.

Jahkil Jackson – 2026 – G – PAC Elite

For programs still looking for a 2026, Jackson is a must see. He was one of the top two-way guards throughout the spring on the NY2LA Association with everything he can do on the floor. He has some size in the backcourt at 6’3” along with a well-rounded skill set and plays with good physicality too. Not only has he proven to a be a consistent three-point shooter, he also excels playing on the attack being able to power his way to his spots and score in the paint and mid-range. As well to his three-level scoring ability, Jackson is also a versatile defender.

Landon Lethunya – 2027 – F – Full Package

Lethunya is an incredibly high upside player with all of his abilities. He is a fluid athlete with great size at 6’9” and length who has also shown growing versatility to his game as a two-way standout. With his mobility and size, he is a real rim protector that can cover so much ground inside while also being able to defend on the perimeter. Offensively, he is an effective cutter who moves so well without the ball, can really finish at the rim, and also shoots it from the outside. He has been drawing interest from several division one programs.

Eden Vinyard – 2027 – F – D Rice Elite

A big addition to D Rice Elite for July, Vinyard is one of the top forwards in his class in the Midwest. There are few players who can match his blend of size at 6’8”, plus length, athleticism, and impactful play. This is in addition to a growing offensive game including being able to make plays off the dribble and shoot the three. Vinyard has been offered by Ball State, Cleveland State, Central Michigan, Mississippi State, Nebraska, and others.
