With all the great talent in Wisconsin’s loaded 2027 class, it has taken some players recruitment a big longer to start up. One of these being Trace Damrow, a 6’5” wing guard of the Wisconsin Legends and Howards Grove High School.

The breakout play of Damrow started in his junior high school season this past winter. He averaged 19.6 points, 8.5 rebounds, 2.8 assists, 2.3 steals, and 1.4 blocks helping Howards Grove advance to the sectional finals. His play has only continued to grow into the spring as he’s been one of the top guards on the NY2LA Association with the Wisconsin Legends.

After previously flying under the radar, the recruitment of Damrow has started to greatly heat up over the past couple of months. This has included interest from multiple levels of programs, taking visits, and receiving some offers. His interest includes several programs at both the division two, three, and NAIA levels.

During the spring, he has taken several college visits. Back in April, Damrow took his first visit which was to Maryville University. “It was nice to hear about coach Kramer’s plan for his new program as well as where he sees me fitting in. On top of that the campus is in a great location,” Damrow said about his visit to the division two school.

“Super cool,” Damrow said about his visit to Hamline. “I felt like I made a great connection with Coach Wockenfus and the basketball there is super historic which was awesome to see.”

“It was awesome to see all of Eau Claire’s new facilities and how invested people are in making sure the players have everything they need to perform at a high level. I loved how much the coaches talked to me about position development and how they see me developing as a player under their staff,” he said on his visit to UW-Eau Claire.

Lastly on his visit to Truman State, Damrow stated “Truman’s visit was great from the minute I arrived to the minute I left. The campus was very unique because it was located in a small town but when you get on campus you don’t feel that. Coach also expressed his staff’s strength in player development which is something crucial I’m looking for in a college.”

To date, Hamline and Waldorf have offered the rising senior. The other programs who have been recruiting him in addition to the offers and visits include Concordia St. Paul, Lawrence, North Central University, Ripon, Roosevelt, St. Norbert’s, UW-Platteville, Winona State, among others.

“Becoming an elite shooter,” is atop the goals for the 6’5” guard this summer. “Also building strength to be prepared for college level basketball. On the court I’m looking to demonstrate my play making ability and my ability to be a dominant two-way player,” Damrow said.
