The recruitment of rising senior Nicholas Taylor quickly came along over the past several weeks. This all ended today on Thursday when the 6’8” power forward of Lanesboro High School and the MN Lightning announced his college commitment.

Taylor announced his commitment to St. Cloud State, a division two program in the NSIC. The commitment comes after Taylor had just been offered by the in-state program at the end of May on the 27th. This offer came while on a visit to the St. Cloud, Minnesota campus. It was the first scholarship offer for Taylor.

“Great,” is how Taylor described his visit to St. Cloud State. “I was shown pretty much everything, and it really fit how I would like my college experience.” There were a few factors that came into the decision of Taylor’s commitment which was headlined by the coaching staff. “What I like most about them is how nice the coaches are. They see a lot of potential in me and see me as being a crucial part of their program in the future. The athletic facility is very nice, and the school seems to be a great fit for me.”

Taylor will be joining a Huskies program that has been on the rise during the tenure of head coach Quincy Henderson. They just finished up a season in which they went 26-7 while advancing to the second round of the NCAA Tournament. “Their play style will allow me to highlight my offensive mobility and I will be a major shot blocker for them,” he said about his future playing for St. Cloud State. They are getting a two-way forward who has a good combination of size standing at 6’8” along with an elevated offensive game. He is a fluid athlete with the versatile scoring ability and plays with great energy. Back in May, Taylor was one of the top players of the NY2LA Spring Extravaganza tournament, which included him scoring 18 points in a single half of his first game of the tournament.
