With the June live periods now complete, it’s time to look ahead to the month of July and the next two live periods. Here are five players who should be on college coaches’ radars and are poised for a breakout month.
Cormac Hanus – 2027 – G/F – Full Package
While an under the radar wing in Illinois’ 2027 class, Hanus has continued to put together a very good few months with first Full Package and then Benet Academy. He has some size on the wings at 6’5” and has continued to prove his knockdown shooting ability. This started back in early April when he hit two game winning jumpers just at the NY2LA Swish N’ Dish tournament. This has continued throughout the spring season and into June with a pair of twenty plus point games at the Riverside Brookfield Shootout.
Kendall Meyers – 2027 – G/F – Y&R
While Meyers has a few division one offers including picking up two just this month, look for his recruitment to only continue to build. Following up on helping Marist win the Illinois 4A state title this past season, his game has only continued to grow. As well to having great size as a 6’6” wing, Meyers is such a versatile player as well. His highly well-rounded game includes being able to be a consistent spot up three-point shooter, defend multiple positions very effectively, play big inside on both sides, handle the ball and make plays off the dribble, passes it well, all in addition to his athleticism and high basketball IQ.
Elijah O’Claire – 2027 – F/C – All Wisconsin
O’Claire has shown flashes of his great upside and is just poised to have a breakout month. While still developing, he has great size at 6’9” in addition to showing good ability on the glass and defensively. He plays with good energy and has proven to be a rim protector but is also mobile for his size switching out onto the perimeter or defending ball screens. O’Claire runs the floor well score in transition and has shown good touch finishing inside.
David Udoiwod – 2027 – PG – Mercury Elite
Starting with Mercury Elite this spring and then with Geneva High School in the June season, the game of Udoiwod has continued to grow as he has consistently played extremely well. This is highlighted by his scoring ability which included having multiple twenty plus point games in May at the NY2LA Spring Extravaganza. He can score from all three levels while excelling on the attack with his quickness and handle maneuvering through the defense with a very good ability to finish all around the paint.
Riley Walz – 2027 – PG – Pro Lane
Walz has continued to play at a high level throughout the spring. He really showed his scoring ability a few weeks ago at the NY2LA Level Invitational averaging 15.3 points per game with his shot making in a 4-0 tournament record for Pro Lane. Though he consistently showcased his point guard play with his distributing all spring long too. He plays smart with the ball as a good decision maker, sees the floor well, and is a skilled passer.
