Over the past several months, Will Stremlow has been one of the fastest rising players in the entire Midwest. This all ended yesterday, when the 6’4” 2027 combo guard of Verona Area High School and Wisconsin Swing announced his commitment.

The breakout play of Stremlow really took off in his junior high school season with Verona. In the season, he averaged 23 points per game. He game and recruitment only continued to greatly build into the spring season with the Swing. At each of the NY2LA Swish N’ Dish, NY2LA Next Level Invitational, and NY2LA Sports Invitational, he was named a top performer. This included scoring 40 points in a single game at the Swish N’ Dish tournament versus a UAA team as well to a 32 point game at the Next Level Invitational.

Stremlow made his commitment to Northern Illinois of the Horizon League. He chose them over a pair of other division one offers as well as ones from several division two programs. The recruitment of Stremlow to Northern Illinois quickly came along incredibly quickly as the rising senior was just offered by them last week.

While Stremlow did enter this spring with a few division two offers, it was not until over the past few months where his recruitment took off. Last year he was offered by Purdue Northwest, Michigan Tech, and South Dakota Mines. Then in this spring he continued to add the division two offers also being offered by UW-Parkside, Northern Michigan, Minnesota Moorhead, Winona State, and St. Cloud State. It wasn’t until just a month ago at the end of May where Stremlow started to pick up his division one offers. As well to being offered by Northern Illinois, he also had division one offered by Western Illinois and Southern Illinois Edwardsville.

Asked why he picked Northern Illinois over his other offers, he said "I really like the coaching staff, campus the facilities, the dorms  and the plan they had for me as a player."

There are plenty of aspects to like from Stremlow that should translate well to the next level. This includes his good positional size as a 6’4” combo guard. This is in addition to his versatile scoring ability as he proven his ability to score from all three levels. The guard has a good ability to create for himself and shoots it well off the dribble. He marks the first commitment in Northern Illinois’ 2027 recruiting class.
