Throughout the spring grassroots season, 6’2” Corvalis Stewart Jr. emerged as one of the top guards in Wisconsin’s 2028 class. With this, he has started to see some growth in his college recruitment.
In his sophomore season at Madison West High School, Stewart averaged 16.5 points, 6.3 rebounds, 2.7 assists, and 1.6 steals per game. Into the spring season, his game has only continued to grow with playing with Wisconsin Academy. Back in April he was named second team all-tournament at the NY2LA Swish N’ Tournament while having games of 28 and 22 points. More recently at the NY2LA Next Level Invitational, he was named a top performer with games of 24 points and 22 points leading his team to a 4-0 record. “Spring season has been good, played some good competition and have been working on my game and getting in the weight room more,” Stewart said.
Following his spring season, Stewart has started to attract the interest from several division two programs. In this group is Concordia St. Paul, Minnesota Duluth, Northern Michigan, among others.
Talking about his own game, Stewart said “Combo guard that can play the one and the two. Feel like nobody can stop me getting into the paint. I like to play with ball screens and create for myself and teammates, I also take pride in guarding the other team’s best player and taking their game away.” All those elements of the guard game have continued to be on display with his standout two-way play who has proven the ability to take over games with his skill level and intensity.
This upcoming weekend, Stewart and Madison West will be playing in the WBCA June Jam.
