The first part of this series included Keegan Krull, Elijah McKinnie, Amar’e Ozier, Brighton Webb, and Brock Weeden. Here are five additional players who have already proven plenty of the hardwood and could have bright futures ahead of them if their games continue to progress.
Keion Bellfield – 2030 – G – Howard Pulley
Bellfield is a quick and athletic 6’1” guard with good abilities. This includes a skilled playmaking ability with the ball being able to score on the attack as well as run the point. The 2030 guard has also proven to be a consistent, high level outside shooter who can also create his own shot. On the other side, Bellfield has also proven the ability to a shutdown, disruptive on ball defender who sticks with the ball so effectively.
Chad Carter Jr. – 2030 – G – Mac Irvin Fire
From the spring grassroots season and now into the June scholastic season, Carter has continued to show he’s more than ready to make the jump for his freshman season. Along with already having positional size, Carter has shown good playmaking ability with the ball. He plays with some physicality and excels on the attack getting into the paint creating for himself and teammates. He also proven to be an energetic and versatile defender.
Sheldon Yarbrough – 2030 – F – Power 5
There are not many players who have all the tools that Yarbrough does before reaching high school. This includes already standing at 6’7” along with a strong build. As well, Yarbrough is a highly explosive forward. He has shown the ability to be able to take over the paint on both ends of the floor along with an emerging offensive game being able to create off the dribble. The forward is certainty one to track in the coming years.
Isaac Zarate – 2030 – G – Davis Brothers Elite
Zarate has been a key to highly talented 2030 Davis Brothers Elite squad over the past couple years, who has won several tournament championships including the NY2LA Generation Next Invitational last month. At this tournament, the guard showed his versatile scoring ability which included a 26-point game. The lengthy guard has proven to be a high percentage three-point shooter as well to a good playmaker on the attack who moves well with the ball. As well, Zarate has consistently shown a good ability to defend the ball in the half court.
Houston Zepeda – 2030 – PG – Wolves Academy
Zepeda is a point guard who has a great blend of talents. This is highlighted by his scoring ability, defensive play, and being a facilitator. Earlier this spring at the NY2LA Swish N’ Dish tournament, not only was Zepeda one of the top scorers at the 14U level helping the Wolves reach the quarterfinals but also a shutdown defender as well to flashing a good passing ability on the move. He has advanced playmaking ability with the ball being able to create for himself on the attack moving well with the ball, reading the floor, and finishing it all around the paint versus size.
