On Wednesday, Jensen Lepla announced his college commitment and will be staying in-state. The rising senior 6’5” wing guard of D Rice Elite and Goodrich High School (MI) selected Grand Valley State.

“They will push me to be the best player that I can be,” LePla said about his decision to choose Grand Valley State over his other offers. He added in, “Also their winning mindset and I have a good relationship with the coaching staff.”

The commitment comes after LePla was offered by Grand Valley State earlier this spring. He then made his visit to the Allendale, Michigan campus earlier this month which he said, “went very well.” LePla chose them over his other division two offers which included Michigan Tech and Saginaw Valley State.

“My game of shooting, driving and versatility will fit in their style of play,” LePla said about his future playing for the Lakers. Grand Valley State is landing a first team all-state player who has earned first team all-conference honors in each of his three high school seasons. He has a unique blend of size and skills. He has great positional as a 6’5” wing guard with a strong build. This is in addition to having a well-rounded offensive game. LePla has proven to be a knockdown three-point shooter throughout the spring as well as an aggressive downhill driver overpowering defenders.
