Even as we near into the summer, there is still time to look at some additional players who greatly boosted their game over the past few months.
Wyatt Ball – 2028 – SG – D Rice Elite
Throughout this spring, Ball has continued to show his great shooting ability. This included being one of the top shooters at both the Grassroots Showcase and NY2LA Spring Extravaganza tournaments this spring. Spotting up from the outside Ball has such a pure jumper and hits them at a high percentage. This is as well to showing an improved ability being a playmaker with the ball facilitating it.
Brock Brown – 2028 – G/F – MidPro Academy
Following on a third team all-state sophomore season, Brown has continued to excel this spring with MidPro Academy. With his play over the past few months, Brown has developed into one of the top shooters in Illinois’ 2028 class. He also has good size on the wings at 6’6” along with his length to be able to get off his pure jumper over defenders. At both the NY2LA Swish N’ Dish and NY2LA Sports Invitational, Brown was one of the top shooters of each tournament.
Kason Mangum – 2027 – F – MTXE
With his improved play this spring, Mangum is a player who should be getting on the radar of division three programs. He is a strong 6’6” forward with a versatile game. Even with his size he can play bigger inside on both ends finishing versus size as well as being a paint protector. This is in addition to being a consistent three-point shooter. He was named a top performer back in May at the NY2LA Next Level Invitational which included him having a 26-point game as well a double-double in another with 18 points and 12 rebounds.
Ed Stasys – 2027 – PF – Illinois Wolves
Whether it has been with the Wolves or Benet, Stasys has continued to up his game to be playing as one of the top forwards in the entire regions 2027 class. As well to being a strong 6’8” interior presence, Stasys has continued to develop his all-around game. This has been highlighted by becoming quicker, more explosive, and the ability to handle the ball and score getting to the basket. He has continued to add offers including ones from Central Michigan, Robert Morris, and Yale all recently in addition to high major interest which included taking a visit to Illinois.
Coby Sykes – 2027 – PG – DistinXion
It has been a big spring for Sykes with his exceptional skill level. Both with his outside shooting and his playmaking on the attack, Sykes excels. He has proven to be a knockdown shooter which included four threes in just the first five minutes of a game at the NY2LA Spring Extravaganza. He is also a high IQ point guard who moves well with the ball. He has good vision while getting into the defense and finishes so well as a guard around the paint.
