Even while seeing his recruitment grow this spring, Chris Rupert is still among the nations more underrecruited big men in the nations 2027 class. The 6’10” post of St. Bernard High School (CA) and Team Hali, has continued to show why he needs to be on more division one programs radar.
Back in January, Rupert received his first division one offer coming from Bethune-Cookman. More recently at the end of May, he received his second one coming from Southern Utah. When asked to talk about his most recent offer, Rupert said “What stands out to me about Southern Utah is the culture and the coaching staff. I like the energy they bring and how they invest in their players. It seems like a great environment to develop as both a player and a person.”
As well to this pair of offers, Rupert has also seen growing interest from several division one programs across the nation. Amongst these are Mississippi State, Montana, Northern Iowa, Troy, Utah Valley, and others.
“My spring with Team Hali has been great. I’ve felt comfortable and confident, and I’ve been able to play freely and showcase my abilities. It’s been a great experience competing at a high level and continuing to grow as a player,” Rupert said. On the Pro16 this spring with Team Hali, he has averaged 11.6 points, 9.8 rebounds, and 1.6 blocks per game. This is in addition to being one of the top post players at the NY2LA Sports Invitational tournament in May where he helped Team Hali to a 4-0 record.
Rupert has great physical tools as he stands at 6’10” with a strong build along with his athleticism. Even at his size, he is still mobile defending the interior as a rim protector but can also switch onto the perimeter and defend ball screens. He has continued to develop his offensive game as not only is he a tough low post scorer and lob threat but can also face up and put the ball on the floor effectively. He plays with good energy as well being able to control the glass on both ends as well as running the floor hard.
