John Calipari and Arkansas landed a major addition to their 2027 recruiting class on Wednesday evening. This came from Davion Thompson, one of the top ranked guards in the entire nation.

Thompson, a 6’2” point guard of Link Academy and the Meanstreets, selected Arkansas over his other finalist of Baylor, Michigan, and Vanderbilt. Some of the other programs to had previously offered him include Illinois, Indiana, Kansas, Ohio State, Oregon, Tennessee, among others. Arkansas had offered him back in November of last year.

With the Meanstreets this spring, Thompson has been one of the top players on the Nike EYBL. This includes being the second leading scoring while averaging 21.7 points per game. He has done this while shooting 45.5% from the field and 51.9% from three. In addition to 4.4 rebounds and 3.9 assists per game. At session two of the EYBL, he led the Meanstreets to a 4-0 tournament record while averaging 26.3 points.

As well as playing for the Meanstreets this spring, he has also been playing with Team USA U18 on the FIBA AmeriCup. During this tournament, Thompson has averaged 9.8 points while just playing 18.7 minutes per game. He is also second on the team with 3.2 assists per game.

Thompson ranks amongst the nation’s top guards and players in the 2027 class. He is ranked as high as twenty first nationally according to 247 Sports. While Rivals has him at twenty-six and ESPN at twenty-seven.  

The Illinois native is the first commitment in the Razorbacks 2027 class.
