BREAKFAST OF CHAMPIONS LEAGUE UPDATE
Week 3 of the annual Breakfast of Champions fall basketball league tipped off this past weekend and it as 2012 PF Dan Studer of Germantown H.S. (WI) who led the way with a huge performance.  For a complete rundown of the top performers from this past weekend CLICK HERE

COMMITMENTS
With the college season ready to tip off this weekend with the annual “Midnight Madness” activities, a number of schools were low key this weekend but that didn’t stop commitments from taking place.  Here’s a few to catch up with from this past weekend…

6-9 2011 C Dylan Sherwood of The Hun School of Princeton (NJ) verbally committed to UNC-Wilmington on Sunday.

6-7 2011 F Luke Hager of Whitney Young (IL) verbally committed to UNC-Wilmington on Sunday as well.  Hager played with the Meanstreets program during the grassroots travel season.

2011 C Deng Leek of Veritas Christian Academy (NC) verbally committed to Western Kentucky on Friday.  Leek played with the Charlotte Royals program this past spring/summer.

2011 SF Trahson Burrell of Notre Dame Prep (MD) verbally committed to Rhode Island this weekend.  Burrell is a 6-6 small forward who is originally from Albany, NY.  He played with the 518 Hustle program during the grassroots travel season.

6-6 2011 SF Trevante Drye of Glen Oaks H.S. (LA) verbally committed to Tulane on Friday.  He played with the New Orleans D-1 Ambassadors during the grassroots travel season.

6-7 2011 PF Jacob Parker of Bixby H.S. (OK) verbally committed to Stephen F. Austin on Sunday.

UPCOMING EVENTS
The 2010 Generation Next Tip-Off will take place November 12-14, 2010 in Milwaukee, Wisconsin.  The tournament is open to boys 9u-14u teams (i.e. 3rd grade – 8th grade) and will feature elite and competitive divisions for grassroots travel teams and school feeder teams and programs alike.  Programs already confirmed to attend include Kingdom Hoops, Playground Elite, DTA Spartans, etc.  As for feeder programs already confirmed, Wauwatosa East, Brookfield Central, Sussex Hamilton, and Whitefish Bay are just a few of the feeder programs expected to have teams attend.  The tournament features a 3 game guarantee with all 1st and 2nd place teams in each division receiving customized individual trophies/medals and t-shirts.  There are multi-team discounts for programs with more than one team entering.  For more information on the upcoming tournament including registration forms CLICK HERE

Speaking of upcoming events, the annual NY2LA Sports Classic is set to tip off November 26-27, 2010 with boys and girls varsity games as well as boys junior varsity and freshman games.  The event is annually the top high school event to tip off the season in the state of Wisconsin with a loaded field of teams once again set to compete on both the boys and the girls sides.  Highlights of this year’s event include Louisville bound McDonald’s All-American candidate 2011 SG Wayne Blackshear and Morgan Park (IL) taking on Iowa State bound 2011 G/F Elgin Cook and Head Coach Tom Diener’s Milwaukee Hamilton as well as a strong in-state contest between Wauwatosa East and Whitefish Bay Dominican featuring the likes of 2012 F Darrell Bowie, 2011 SG Jamall Taylor, 2013 G/F Anthony Carroll, and 2013 PG Duane Wilson Jr.  The girl’s side features its fair share of excellent programs as well with one of the many highlights of the weekend to be a matchup between Nicolet and Beaver Dam, two teams expected to challenge for the state championship this season.  For more information on this year’s event including a complete rundown of the schedule CLICK HERE

A new holiday tournament for middle school prospects was announced last week as the 2011 Holiday Hoopfest will tip off January 1-2, 2011 in Milwaukee, Wisconsin.  The inaugural tournament will feature separate elite and competitive divisions for 3rd-8th grade boys and girls.  The tournament will offer up a 3 game guarantee built around pool play and single elimination playoffs with customized individual trophies/medals and t-shirts awarded to all first and 2nd place teams in each division.  The tournament will offer up multi-team discounts as well.  It is open to grassroots travel teams, school feeder programs/teams, etc.  For more information on this upcoming event CLICK HERE

One tournament that needs no introduction is the annual Swish & Dish Spring Warm-Up, which has grown into one of the true measuring sticks for tournaments during the spring and summer.  Next year’s event will tip off April 1-3, 2011 in Milwaukee, Wisconsin with divisions for boys 9u-17u teams.  This tournament annually draws many of the top teams and prospects in the country at every level and next year’s is already set to feature a ridiculously loaded field once again with teams from 12 states already confirmed to attend along with a laundry list of top 100 prospects up and down the classes as well.  For more information on the 2011 Swish & Dish Spring Warm-Up CLICK HERE.
