Five more players from the 17U level of the NY2LA Next Level Invitational that also shined.
Mohammad Badwan – 2027 – SG – Chapman North
Badwan has a good combination of skills, physical tools, and feel. He stands at 6’3” along with being a strong guard. Over multiple games, he showed the ability to beat defenders in a variety of ways. He scored it well getting to the basket being able to beat defenders with both his physicality as well as moving well with the ball through traffic. Badwan also shoots it at a high percentage from both the mid-range and three which included a trio of threes in a game.
Jamarri Fears – 2027 – PG – Zero Fears
The game of Fears has grown a ton over the past year. This was clear with his two-way play which included scoring 18 points in a tight win. Fears excelled playing on the attack with his tight handle and burst of quickness along with good floor awareness. He both scored and distributed it on the attack but also hit several threes in the tournament. Fears also played with great intensity on the defensive side utilizing his quickness to consistently pressure the ball.
Jackson Martin – 2027 – SG – Hoopademix
Martin flashed some good offensive tools getting into double figures scoring in multiple games. Martin is a two guard with some size at 6’3” and showed a well-rounded scoring ability scoring it from all three levels. He shoots it well spotting up from but also moves well with the ball getting to his spots in the mid-range as well as into the paint. He also played active defensively both on and off the ball which included blocking a couple shots in a single game.
Nigel Mosley – 2027 – G – MTXE
Mosley was one of the top scorers of the day Saturday which included 23 points in his first game and then in his next game he scored 14 points in just the second half. Mosley has good size at 6’4” along with some length too. He scored it well both with his jumper hitting four threes in one game while also being effective as an aggressive driver. Mosley maneuvers well with the ball moving through heavy traffic getting into the paint where he finished it well with his size as well as being able to get to the line often.
Riley Walz – 2027 – PG – Pro Lane
While Walz has had some good tournaments this spring, he turned his game up a level here. Walz has good point guard abilities but really shined this tournament with his scoring ability. In the tournament, he had games of 19 points, 16 points, 14 points, and 12 points to lead Pro Lane to an undefeated 4-0 tournament. He showed a good ability to read the floor, beat defenders off the dribble, hit gaps, and finishing all around the paint. He also scored it well from the outside hitting plenty of threes throughout the tournament as a good spot up shooter.
