Second group of stock boosters from this past weekend’s NY2LA Spring Extravaganza with plenty to choose from.
Jayden Comer – 2027 – SG – OPS
In the second half of a tight game, Comer came up clutch scoring 11 points. Along with being a skilled scorer, Comer has some size in the backcourt at 6’3” along with his length. He created well for himself off the dribble hitting a three with good range on his jumper as well as playing well on the attack. The bouncy guard showed a good ability to beat defenders off the dribble.
Blair Fagbemi – 2027 – PG – Full Package
While Fagbemi has had tremendous point guard tools for some time now, he has continued to grow more as a scorer. This included 13 points in a game which included the game winning driving basket. He has played more aggressively on the attack creating for himself finishing around the paint as well as pulling up in the mid-range as well as being able to spot up and hit the three consistently. This is all in addition to his ability to run the point playing strong with the ball and creating well for others so well.
Ian Newble – 2027 – SF – D Rice Elite
Newble had multiple standout games in the tournament including scoring 14 points in his first game in a win in addition to everything else he does. He is a lengthy 6’6” wing forward that is a standout on both ends. He played well with the ball in his hands as a slasher as well as hitting some threes off the dribble. Newble played with good energy both on the glass as well as on his man defensively and in help. He showed good skills and has even greater upside.
Micah Parks – 2026 – G – Ohio Premier
Parks shined in a tight win Saturday with especially his scoring but also his facilitating. This included some key plays late. He is a versatile scorer who played well on the attack and also shot it well from the outside hitting threes both off the catch and dribble. The 6’3” combo guard plays strong on the attack and is a craft finisher around the rim getting it done with either hand effectively.
Owen Roschen – 2027 – PG – MN Lightning
While Roschen had some double-digit scoring games in a 3-1 tournament, he impressed even more with his point guard play and distributing. He showed a good ability to create his own shot hitting jumpers both in the mid-range and three. Roschen plays strong with the ball and has great court vision reading the floor while playing on the attack being able to draw defenders and facilitate it out.
Nick Thies – 2027 – G/F – Wisconsin Academy
There are plenty of aspects to like from the growing game of Thies with his size on the wings at 6’5” along with a versatile skill set. This was most shown in the second half of a tight game where he scored 13 points where he was just taking over. He is a versatile scorer as he can use his size and physicality to score in the post playing with his back to the basket but also spot up and hit threes in addition to being a primary ball handler. He also plays big on the glass where he gets up for rebounds and can then lead the break himself.
Riley Walz – 2027 – PG – Pro Lane
Over multiple games Walz showed a high skill level helping his Pro Lane team to a 4-0 record at this tournament. In their opening game he got off a to a very quick start hitting a pullup mid-range jumper followed by a three on the next play. He continued to shoot the ball at a high percentage throughout the tournament also hitting a pair of threes in their final win. Much more than just a shooter, Walz is also a high IQ point guard that is a skilled passer along with his court vision.
Quinn Wesenberg – 2027 – SG – Wisconsin Legends
Wesenberg has continued to grow his game and should be on more college coaches’ radars. He was a big piece of the Legends 4-0 weekend which included three double digit scoring games including ones with 18 points and 16 points. The guard can really shoot the basketball hitting four threes in one of his games. Though he is much more than just a shooter as he has a well-rounded scoring ability and can also handle the ball and be a facilitator too.
