With the spring live period underway, plenty of players brought their top game for day one of the NY2LA Spring Extravaganza.
Kaiden Brown – 2028 – G – Mercury Elite
Brown played the heroes role in the final game of the day. In a tied game with just a few seconds remaining, Brown took his defender one-on-one and buried a three off the dribble with just a couple of seconds left for the game winner. More than just that one play, the guard scored 18 points in the win while hitting four threes.
KJ Cross – 2027 – G/F – Wisconsin Dynasty
Following some standout performances earlier this spring at both Swish N’ Dish and the Grassroots Showcase tournament, Cross started the Spring Extravaganza off in a big way. This was with 26 points leading the Dynasty to a win. In addition to being 6’5” with a strong build, Cross has continued to add to his game. Scored it effectively all game getting to the rim in both the half court and transition aggressively attacking the defense.
Jensen LePla – 2027 – SG – D Rice Elite
It was another star performance from LePla as he has consistently shined for D Rice Elite over the past few years. On Friday it was with 29 points leading his team to a win to be a very easy pick for this list. Whether it was on the attack getting all the way to the basket, getting to the line often, or hitting outside jumpers, LePla just could not be stopped. He can beat defenders with both his physicality and quickness to the basket. One of the more gifted scorers in the regions 2027 class.
Carson Miller – 2027 – SG – M14 Hoops
Friday night at Homestead High School featured plenty of great shooters. Though rising above all the others was Miller. The 6’3” two guard put on a show hitting a staggering seven threes with his pure compact jumper hitting them at a high percentage. He was able to finish with 26 points in a win for M14.
Nicholas Taylor – 2027 – PF – MN Lightning
Taylor had one of the most impressive halves of basketball on day one. This was with 18 points in the first half alone helping the Lightning to a tight win. As well to his size at 6’8”, Taylor showed his ability to score it very effectively in a variety of ways. He used his size and touch and finish it very well posting up but also hit jumpers from three and the mid-range and showed his ability to handle the ball and attack the basket with a couple of driving dunks. One of the most under the radar 2027 forwards in the entire region that is a scholarship level talent with division one upside.
