With a full day of basketball at Homestead High School there were plenty of young hoopers impressing. Here are just a few of them.
Joseph Chapman – 2032 – G/F – Chapman Basketball Academy
Chapman along with a few others helped CBA get a dominant win to move to 2-0 in the tournament. In less than the first 30 seconds of play, the lengthy and skilled wing had already scored a pair of baskets. He kept on scoring throughout the first half to already have 16 points at halftime. He scored it in a variety of ways including attacking the basket and finishing everything around the paint.
Cornelius Harris – 2033 – G/F – ABC Young Lions
Not only Harris lead his team in scoring but the wing also came up clutch in the biggest of moments. He was able to cut to the basket beating his defender and had a nice finish at the basket to put his team up one with just under seven seconds on the clock. This ended up being the game winner for the Lions.
Bennett O’Malley – 2031 – G – ALL IN
O’Malley was one of the top scorers of the day Saturday. He went off in the first half with 18 points and kept on scoring from there to finish the game with 31 points. He scored it from all three levels but excelled with his shot making. O’Malley shot it exceptionally well both spotting up from three as well as pulling up in the mid-range.
Mason Shields – 2031 – F – Davis Brothers Elite
In their second game of the day Saturday, Shields was one of a few standouts from this very deep and talented 13U Davis Brothers team helping them move to 3-0. In the game he scored a highly efficient 14 points. While he scored it extremely well around the basket with his size and length, he also showed his offensive versatility both attacking the basket and hitting a three.
Benjamin Skrajny – 2030 – F/C – Triumph Hoops Academy
With his 19 points, Skrajny helped lead his team to an 11-point win and advance to the second round of the platinum bracket. All game, the post scored the ball very all around the basket including on a couple of nice post up moves. He was also key on the defensive side in the win with his tough interior play.
