The Generation Next Invitational got off to a big start Friday evening. Here are some of the standouts from night one of the tournament during the four rounds of games.
Dylan Nowak – 2030 – G/F – Wisconsin Legends
Nowak got off to a big start helping build a significant lead for the Legends which they cruised to the win. In the first half alone, he scored 15 points while finishing the game with 19 points. Throughout the game Nowak used his size and aggressiveness to be nearly unstoppable around the basket scoring the ball at an extremely high rate but also showed the ability to play out on the perimeter too.
Zion Ogunsola – 2031 – F – Team Hali
Ogunsola scored 10 points in just the first half but did plenty more to help Team Hali grab a good win Friday. As a seventh grader he already has good size in the frontcourt at 6’2”. He used his size and length to score the ball very efficiently around the paint but also made a big impact with his versatile defensive play as an athletic forward.
Terrence Peterson Jr. – 2032 – PG – Team Herro
Throughout the opening game win for Team Herro, Peterson was a pure playmaker on both sides of the ball. He is a quick guard who plays with a lot of energy. Whether he was getting to the basket, being a distributor, or causing turnovers, Peterson was consistently making winning plays win his team’s victory.
Sam Staebler – 2030 – G/F – Davis Brothers Elite
Staebler had some highlight reel plays to open up the tournament. This included a pair of powerful dunks in the convincing game one victory for Davis Brothers Elite. As well to already having positional size as a 6’3” wing, he is also has good athleticism and skills too. He scored 19 points in the win scoring it in a variety of ways.
Isaac Zarate – 2030 – G – Davis Brothers Elite
Zarate was one of several standouts from this very deep and talented 14U Davis Brothers Elite team that had a significant win on Friday night. He was one of the leading scorers of night one at the tournament with 26 points in the win. He showcased a high skill level throughout the game scoring it well both spotting up from three with a good looking jumper and getting all the way to the basket.
