Lot of names to know from this 2029 group at the NY2LA Sports Invitational who greatly stood out over the two days at Homestead High School.

Khyree Brumby – 2029 – SG – Racine Truth

Brumby was one of a few standouts from this Racine Truth team that went 4-0 including a dominant 35-point win to finish their undefeated tournament. In this game, he scored 15 points but also showed a well-rounded game too. While he can shoot the ball hitting shots in the mid-range and three, he also plays well on the attack seeing the floor and moving well with the ball. He was often getting all the way to the basket and finishing it at a high rate and also passed it well on the move too.

Romeo Costello – 2029 – PG – Team NAF

With both his hot shooting and point guard play, Costello helped his team to a 3-1 weekend. In a single game he drilled three threes in a single half with his high percentage jumper. Not only a knock down spot up shooter, he also shot it well off the dribble from three and getting into the mid-range while being able to hit contested jumpers. His point guard tools including driving to distribute it well, passing the ball well under pressure.

Kal Guenther – 2029 – G/F – 24UP

The 6’2” wing was one of the most versatile and impactful players of the tournament. He scored the ball extremely well with games of 22 points and 20 points but also did so much more. He scored it very well on the attack finishing it all around the paint doing so through contact but also shot it well spotting up from three. As well to his scoring, he is an active defender who was able to force plenty of turnovers in addition to being a good passer creating well for others on the attack.

Jude Ogunsola – 2029 – SF – Team Hali

Ogunsola is a high upside wing forward who is already a highly impactful player on both ends. He has good positional size at 6’5” along with a well-rounded game. He is a very versatile defender as he can play big defending in the paint but also showed his athleticism defending out on the perimeter even matching up well even versus point guards. Ogunsola also showed his scoring ability with multiple double-digit games scoring it well around the paint and getting to the line often with his aggressive play.

Mason Phillips – 2029 – PG – 24UP

Phillips had one of the most impressive games of the entire tournament. This was with 25 points in a tight victory but also scored it in double figures in each of his other games. Not only did he score the ball at an extremely high rate, he’s an unselfish point guard who also consistently looked to distribute the ball too while playing strong with the ball. His scoring included a smooth jumper hitting three threes in the first half alone of his 25 point game, but he also came up clutch in the final two minutes going 8-8 from the line in the win. As just a 2029, Phillips already has a nice combination of an advanced skill set and knows how to play.

Semaj Pruitt – 2029 – G – Team Hali

Pruitt has continued to play at a high level over the past couple of years and that continued into this tournament. That included a near dominant second half in a tight game where he scored 11 points. Pruitt is an athletic guard who was playing quicker with the ball making plenty of plays on both sides. While he showed a good ability to be a tough and active defender, he excelled with his scoring getting it done from all three levels. Pruitt hit some threes during the tournament but really excelled playing on the attack often getting to the basket and finishing as well to hitting jumpers pulling up in the mid-range.

Jayden Searcy – 2029 – SG – Racine Truth

Searcy really excelled playing on the attack but also hit some threes in the tournament. He has great moves off the dribble beating defenders with ease to be consistently getting all the way to the basket. This included scoring in double figures in multiple games in an undefeated tournament for Racine Truth going 4-0. As well to his scoring, Searcy is also a highly aggressive defender having a few steals in a single game with his play both on the ball and in the passing lanes.
