With all the stock boosters from this past weekend at the NY2LA Sports Invitational, here is part two from the 17U level.

Nasir Avery – 2027 – PG – Team Herro National

After his standout play at the Grassroots Showcase, it was another big weekend for Avery at the NY2LA Sports Invitational. This included games of 17 points, 17 points, 16 points, and 14 points. He showed his great shot making ability from the outside hitting five threes in one of his games but also plays well on the attack with his quickness. On the drive, Avery showed good distributing with his vision getting himself 5 assists in one game. It has been a huge stock boosting spring for Avery who needs to be on college coaches’ radars.

Xavier Bezares – 2027 – PG – Wisconsin Playmakers East

Bezares got off the tournament in a big way scoring baskets on the first two possessions in his first game. He came on making plenty of plays throughout the tournament helping his team to a 4-0 record. He showed a good combination of point guard tools along with his shot making. In this first game of the tournament, he drilled three threes as well to hitting shots pulling up in the mid-range. Bezares also plays strong with the ball in addition to passing it well on the move.

Kaan Caglar – 2026 – G/F – Team Hali Winston

The available senior showed a good combination of physical tools along with a versatile game. On the wings, Caglar has good size at 6’6” plus a strong build and athleticism. Throughout the tournament he consistently made a big impact to help his team to a 4-0 weekend. He scored the ball well taking it strong to the basket using his physicality and finishing through traffic. He is also a versatile defending matching up with multiple positions well both inside and out. This is in addition being a force on the glass as a highly aggressive rebounder.

Blair Fagbemi – 2027 – PG – Full Package

While Fagbemi has consistently proved his ability to run the point and be a distributor with his great elusiveness with the ball, he also showed his scoring ability this tournament. On Saturday alone, he had games of 18 points and then 12 points. Throughout the tournament, he was more aggressive looking to score the ball himself getting it done driving to the basket where he finished well at his size as well as spotting up for threes.

Mohammad Farhan – 2027 – F – Lockdown

The forward had multiple standout games during the tournament. This included having one of the top scoring games of the entire tournament with 28 points. He has some size at 6’5” along with a strong frame. He scored the ball effectively in numerous ways including mid-range jumpers, strong drives to the basket, facing up in the mid-post, and rolling to the basket. As well to his scoring, Farhan also played tough defensively blocking shots in the paint with his athleticism and moving well defending the ball on the perimeter.

Nathan Munson – 2027 – PG – Illinois Flight

While Munson scored 10 points in his final game of the tournament hitting a three and getting to the basket with his toughness, he greatly impressed with his facilitating all throughout the tournament. Whether in the half court or in transition, Munson is a highly skilled passer. He is a smart point guard reading the floor and can make every pass.

Maurice Thompson – 2027 – SG – Illinois Central Elite

Thompson is a long and athletic 6’3” wing guard who showed a lot of tools over multiple games on both ends. This included very good playmaking off the dribble moving well with the ball and getting into the paint and into the mid-range to score the ball. With his athleticism, Thompson finished it very well around the basket in addition to hitting shots off the dribble in the mid-range. The junior also showed the ability to be a lock down on ball defender.

Riley Walz – 2027 – PG – Pro Lane

The efficient shot making of Walz was key in an overtime win for Pro Lane. This included hitting three threes in the game, one of them to start off overtime. The smooth shooter also shot it well pulling up in the mid-range. While Walz has a pure jumper, he also showed good point guard tools being able to create for others, playing strong with the ball, and good decision making.
