There were plenty of players at the Grassroots Showcase making a name for themselves. Here are several that greatly impressed in Louisville and should be getting on college coaches’ radars.

Antoine Cannon – 2027 – PG – Michigan Warriors

Cannon had multiple standout games with both his scoring and distributing in a 3-1 weekend. This included games of 13 points and 5 assists, 12 points and 5 assists, as well to scoring 17 points in his opening game. He plays strong with the ball in his hands with his tight handle and changes speeds effectively. Not only did he finish it strongly inside going into size but also shot the three both off the catch and dribble.

Tony Dent – 2026 – PG – Reach Legends

Dent was a playmaker on both ends of the floor. He is a skilled facilitator who moves well with the ball with his tight handle. The point guard was consistently breaking down defenders and collapsing the defense then distributing it out passing it well on the move. On the defensive side, he is highly active in the half court aggressively pressuring the ball with his quickness.

Khader Diabate – 2027 – PG – Gxfted Elite

Diabate is a skilled playmaking point guard who can both score and distribute the ball. Not only is he strong with the ball but is also very shifty getting into the paint often making plenty of plays both scoring and distributing in their three wins. Diabate passed it very well on the move in addition to being a crafty finisher around the basket often getting to the basket.

Nathan Freiheit – 2027 – C – PAC Elite

Not only did Freiheit come up in the clutch with a buzzer beating, game winning basket but only showed his continued growth. This was with multiple double digit scoring games as well as impacting the game with both his rebounding and shot blocking. While he uses his great physical tools and good touch to finish at the basket, he also showed his ability to step out and shoot the three. The post is very mobile around the paint blocking shots but also moves well enough to switch onto the perimeter.

Parker Mitchell – 2027 – SG – Team Herro National

To start out a win on Saturday, Mitchell hit a three on the first play of the game and kept on his shooting from there. He is a high percentage, spot up shooter from the outside who scored 15 points in that game. Mitchell shot the ball extremely well throughout the entire tournament helping Herro to an undefeated 4-0 record. As well to his shooting, he also scored it well as a cutter and plays tough rebounding well as a guard.

Ace Spinner – 2027 – SG – Illinois Warriors Elite

Spinner proved to be one of the top shooters of the entire tournament. This included hitting six threes in a single game in a tight game Sunday. When spotting up from the perimeter, the 6’2” two guard was just not missing. Spinner moves well without the ball finding space and always being ready to shoot it. As well to his shooting, he plays with good toughness both defending the ball as well as on the glass.

Gary Thorpe – 2027 – PG – Jay Academy

From Swish N’ Dish into the Grassroots Showcase, Thorpe has been a consistent playmaker on both ends of the floor this spring. He is highly elusive with the ball in his hands with both his quickness and incredible shiftiness. Thorpe was aggressive attacking the basket but also hit some threes in the tournament. He is also highly active on the defensive side flying around making a ton of plays.

Braylen Turner – 2027 – G – Illinois Bears

Turner shined in a game Saturday not only scoring 12 points but also with his distributing ability. Turner is a combo guard with size at 6’3” and a well-rounded game. He has good vision on the move and is a skilled passer dishing out assists to cutters and bigs on the roll. Turner can also score it effectively getting all the way to the basket as well to being able to shoot the three.
