Whether it has been with Arrowhead High School or Pro Lane, Blake Basich is quietly emerging has one of the more skilled point guards in Wisconsin’s 2027 class. With this, Basich has started to see some early growth in his recruitment.
This past high school season at Arrowhead, Basich was one of the leaders in assists in all of Wisconsin. The junior averaged a staggering 7.4 assists per game. This was in addition to averaging 12.5 points and 5.1 rebounds as well to shooting 44.8% from three. He earned himself first team all-conference honors.
The high level of play has continued into the spring with Pro Lane for Basich. This included leading his team to the 17U gold championship win at the recent NY2LA Swish N’ Dish Tournament. He was key throughout the tournament which included scoring 14 points in a tight second half of a quarterfinals game. He was also one of the top distributors of the tournament but also showcased his shooting hitting four threes in one of his game. “Swish N’ Dish went better than I think anyone expected. For myself, we were down a starting guard, so that put more scoring responsibility on my shoulders…I was able to get to the rim and help our team be successful,” he said about the tournament.
“I would say I’m a true point guard,” Basich first said when describing his own game. “I can definitely score, but I pride myself on making the game as easy as possible for my teammates and getting them the best looks possible. Although I’m only 5’10”, I work my butt off to outrebound guys that are anywhere from 4-10 inches taller than me. I am also extremely quick, which definitely helps me get into the lane on really anybody.”
With all of this, Basich has started to see recruitment interest from multiple levels of college programs. This includes both division two and three level programs at the moment who have been in communication with him.
