The recent NY2LA Swish N’ Dish Tournament was loaded with talent. This included a few dozen players with high major offers as well as several top one hundred nationally ranked players. However, one of the top performers of the entire tournament, Markese Peoples, is yet to receive an offer and has limited recruitment currently.

The 6’3” 2027 guard shined throughout the Swish N’ Dish tournament while playing with Young & Reckless. This included leading them to the 17U platinum semifinals of the tournament. During the tournament, he scored 21 points in a win over Power 5 3SSB in addition to his consistent high level of play throughout the tournament. “I showed my ability to defend smaller guards and play great off ball defense, along with showing my shooting ability and court vision, and being a team player,” Peoples said about is play at the tournament.

The growth in the game of Peoples took off this past high school season at St. Laurence in which he was named second team 4A all-state by the IBCA. In the season, he averaged 18 points, 7 rebounds, 4 assists, and 2 steals.

Peoples has a unique blend of talents to his game. As well to being 6’3” and being able to run the point, he is a strongly built guard. Throughout the Swish N’ Dish Tournament, he showed his ability to overpower opposing guard playing on the attack with his physical tools but also his toughness, handle, and change of pace. He also showed growth in his outside jump shot hitting a pair of threes in a single game. With his play, he has proven to be one of the top two-way guards in Illinois’ 2027 class and should be a popular target on college coaches’ radars moving forward.
