The recruitment of Timmy West took another big step recently. This was with the 6’2” 2028 point guard of SFA Academy and Power 5 picking up his second division one offer recently.
Back in April of last year, West picked up his first division one offer. This came from Jacksonville State. Now more recently, West has added his second division one offer with this one coming from Georgia Southern. “Crowd and fan support,” West stated when asked if there is anything he likes about the newest school to offer him. Adding in “the high scoring tempo they play.”
As well to his pair of offers, West has a few other division one programs recruiting him. Amongst these are Northern Illinois, UW-Green Bay, and Western Illinois.
Last weekend, West was one of the top point guards at the 16U level of the NY2LA Swish N’ Dish tournament playing with Power 5. This included helping them reach the platinum quarterfinals in a 3-1 weekend. “Win,” West said about his goals for the rest of his grassroots season with Power 5. “As the lead point guard, it’s my goal to set the tone for the season so really having a pit bull mentality going into every game and practice is what I feel like is going to separate us from other teams. Toughness, consistency, and trust will be key for our team. I feel like we’ve already started to build something really good so continuing to improve as a team should help us be a top team on the 3SSB.”
After previously attending Edgewood High School in Wisconsin, West made the move to SFA Academy in Florida for this past high school season. “My season at SFA was a success in a sense even though I was out for majority of the season, only playing 10 games due to a fracture in my shin. The games that I did play in I performed well against high level talent in the SIAA conference. My first game back I had an 18-point triple double in a playoff win versus West Oaks and averaged around 16 points,” West said about his first season there.
